Closing a company
Voluntary strike-off (DS01) for solvent companies for £249 fixed fee, including the £13 Companies House fee and HMRC closure notifications.
This service at a glance
Fixed fee: £249 – including the £13 Companies House fee
If your limited company has stopped trading and is solvent, voluntary strike-off is usually the simplest and cheapest way to close it. We manage the whole process, so the company is closed cleanly and nothing comes back to you later.
What’s included
- Eligibility check: no trading in the last three months, no outstanding debts and no other reasons strike-off could be refused
- Advice on taking money out before closure – up to £25,000 can usually be distributed as capital rather than income
- Closing the company’s PAYE scheme and VAT registration with HMRC
- Telling HMRC the company is closing for Corporation Tax
- Preparing and filing form DS01 with Companies House (the £13 fee is included)
- A checklist for the bank account and any assets before dissolution
Final accounts and tax return
Before closing, a company needs its final accounts and Corporation Tax return up to the date it stopped trading. If the company has been dormant, these are covered by our dormant accounts and dormant tax return services. If it was trading, we’ll quote a fixed fee for the final accounts.
If the company has reserves above £25,000, or debts it cannot pay, strike-off may not be right – we’ll explain the alternatives, including members’ voluntary liquidation through a licensed insolvency practitioner.
