Small company accounts (FRS 102 Section 1A)
Statutory accounts for small UK companies under FRS 102 Section 1A, including the 2026 FRS 102 changes.
This service at a glance
Most small limited companies that are too large for micro-entity accounts – or that choose not to use them – prepare accounts under FRS 102 Section 1A. We prepare, review and file them for you, and produce the tax return from the same set of figures.
Who uses FRS 102 Section 1A?
For accounting periods beginning on or after 6 April 2025 a company is generally “small” if it meets two of these three tests:
- Turnover of no more than £15 million
- Balance sheet total of no more than £7.5 million
- An average of no more than 50 employees
Section 1A is also the right choice for micro-sized companies that hold investment property, want to revalue assets, or simply want fuller accounts for lenders and investors.
Changes to FRS 102 from January 2026
The Financial Reporting Council’s periodic review brought significant amendments to FRS 102 for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026. The headline changes are a new five-step model for recognising revenue and bringing most leases onto the balance sheet. Many small businesses will see little change, but contracts with customers and property or vehicle leases need reviewing. We assess the impact on your business before your first affected year end.
